Armed Woman Defends Herself Against Potential Rape

Taylors, SC – Some organizations that I won’t give the pleasure of linking to say that women owning guns won’t prevent rapes and is more dangerous than not owning a gun. Luckily for this South Carolina woman, she didn’t buy into that line of thinking.

Around 10 A.M. this past Thursday, a man approached a woman asking her for jumper cables. She told the man she didn’t have any, and he continued to other houses in the neighborhood.

But when he returned to her house, he forced himself inside, grabbed her by the neck and threw her down.

It is unclear if the woman was carrying a pistol on her person or if it was just close by. But she was able to draw her pistol, causing the attacker to run off. She did not fire any shots.

That’s about all the details we have about this incident. The police are still searching for the suspect. And once again, a Ring Doorbell Camera caught them attacker on film, so hopefully, he will be identified.

So there are a few things we can take away from this story.

Always Carry…Even At Home!

First off, we have said this before, but you should always be carrying your gun. And that includes carrying a gun at home. Read my article, Should You Carry a Gun at Home?, for a more in-depth look at this, but the answer is Yes. I constantly recommend always carrying concealed when you leave your house and not just sometimes. Why? Because we don’t know when bag things are going to happen. If you did, then you would never need to carry a gun. You just wouldn’t put yourself in that situation. Well, the same goes for your home. While you might feel safe and secure in the confines of your own home, you never know when someone might break-in. Right now, I am sitting at my desk in my home office, and I have my Glock 19 sitting in my Clearwater Stag Works EDV Valet. But I also have my Henry Holsters Appendix Carry holster on. When I get up from my desk, the Glock 19 goes into my holster, and I go on with whatever I was doing. It has become a habit, and I don’t even think about it anymore.

Secure Your Home with Cameras

Security systems and cameras are very affordable these days, and many systems are easy enough to set up yourself. Doorbell cameras, such as the Ring Doorbell Camera, are very popular these days. Numerous times a month, when I am looking for defensive gun use articles, there is Nest camera footage of criminals caught in the act. I highly recommend installing one if you don’t have one already. I personally use the August Doorbell Cam in conjunction with the August Door Lock. Here’s a breakdown of a DGU incident that was caught on camera.
