Experimenting with Wet Shotgun Shells for Safety (VIDEO)

Back in the old days, paper-hulled shotgun shells were toast if they got damp but are today’s plastic-hulled shells any better if wet? To find out, Bobby Guy dunked a collection of shells from various makers in water to see if they would still fire. Using an old Tristar held in a vice and a string to remotely pull the trigger.

Results were mixed, but one thing is for sure, there is a saturation point of no return past where the shell is so gnarly that, even if it fires, gums up the shotgun enough to ruin a hunt or cause an unsafe condition.

The more you know, right?
